In Memory of Clara Mae Stephens, DCHS Trustee.

Writer's picture: DirectorDirector

It is with great sorrow that we must share the news of the passing of our Trustee, Clara Mae Stephens. On Sunday, March 17th, 2024, she departed this life at the age of eighty-eight. Since she was young, she was actively involved in community activities and the Methodist Church. She took part in our local garden club, women's club, DAR chapters, and book clubs among other organizations. Additionally, she was a member of the Dorchester Retired Educators Association and once served as President of the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary.

Being from East New Market, she showed great interest in sharing Dorchester County history as well. She served as a trustee for the Nanticoke Historic Preservation Alliance at Handsell and was a past and present Trustee here at the Dorchester County Historical Society. We will greatly miss seeing her here and meeting with her. She was intelligent, kind, and a true pleasure to be around. Our hearts go out to her family and friends at this time.
